Every Degree College affricated to the University of Mumbai constitutes a Students Council. The College has a students council with the Principal as the Chairman, one lecturer nominated by the Principal as NCC officer, NSS Program me officer, Director of Sports, one meritorious student from each class an outstanding student from each of the following activities, NSS, Sports, NCC and cultural activities, and two lady students nominated by the Principal. Tenure of the student’s council for College to encourage students to imbibe and develop leadership skills.
CAREER GUIDANCE CELL
In Bhavan’s Junior College, the Career Guidance Cell was formed in 2004-05. The cell conducts workshops and seminars for the Arts, Science and Commerce students and their parents. Expert Counselors are invited to conduct the workshop and interactive sessions with parents and students. The students are enlightened about various career options available after completing studies in Junior College. They are also informed about various aspects like finance, Social background, intelligence, aptitude, hard work etc. which should be considered while choosing the Career. The students are also informed about future prospects of various careers. The cell has conducted various workshops to apprise the students for careers in Engineering, Medical and paramedical field, Foreign Education, Aviation, Hotel management, Chartered Accountancy etc.
The College annually publishes a magazine called AMRUTUM. Articles from students are invited in English, Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati to make is an enjoyable reading.
THE N. C. C.
THE College enrolls a limited number of boys and girls in the N. C. C. and trains them for the B & C Certification Examinations. Students with good physique, normal eye-sight and a flair for cultural activities are given preference. The central and state Governments provide several incentives to the N.C.C. cadets such as:
1. Reservation in the armed forces
2. Reservation in Para-military organizations like the BSF and the CRPF and in the state police.
3. Scholarships and special awards to students participating in the Republic Day parade.
National Service Scheme
N.S.S. is one of the important co-curricular activities in the College. N.S.S. of the College is a students body, dedicated to social service. The N.S.S. volunteers participate in several socially relevant programs, thereby making some positive changes in the society. The N.S.S. volunteer has work during the academic year, in projects like cleanliness drives, blood donation, tree plantion, literacy programs, health camps, etc. N.S.S. also provides excellent scope for personality development and leadership training.
The College has facilities for games and sports like Cricket, Football, Volley-Ball, Kho-Kho, Kabbadi, Table Tennis, Chess, Carom etc. The College has a spacious sports Ground suitable for all field and track events. Gymkhana Common Room is open from 8.30a.m. to 5p.m. All the students of the College are the members of the Gymkhana. Annual Competitions in Indoor games and Outdoor games are conducted by the College. The selected students represent our College at inter-collegiate competitions.
The Cultural Committee conducts a ‘talent search’ i.e. competitions amongst our students in various Cultural events like singing, instrumental music, dances, dramatics etc in August/September and selects students to participate in the Annual Day function. They also send students to present the College in various inter-collegiate competitions O’ the Fest : Every year in December our own Inter Collegiate Fest is hosted titled ‘O2-Where life begins
The College has a number of associations to promote the talent and skills of our students in various curricular and extracurricular-activities. A membership fee to these associations is a nominal amount and accounts are maintained by a chairperson nominated by the Principal. This list is as follows :
